Each lesson contains the scaffolding method which means subsequent lessons are a continuation of the previous lessons. For example, Lesson 3 will build off words and concepts from lesson 1 and 2.
Grammar is not a defining feature of these lessons although it does get mentioned at times. It's more of a learning by doing method by building vocabulary step by step and understanding grammar by exposure.
When learning anything, simply knowing isn't enough. You have to practice. For example, knowing the keys on the piano doesn't translate to good piano playing. Same with language learning. Learning words and grammar is a perfectly reasonable way to understand the nuts and bolts of a language but without actual practice, you will feel stuck in your knowledge, unable to follow speech or speak for yourself. Why? You have to practice! Language goes at lightning speed and you need practice listening and speaking to keep up with that pace.
If you need to go beyond beginner level, I am available for online tutoring! We can use my method to help you speak using different tenses & vocabulary.
Or we can clarify grammar points, learn expressions not taught in a textbook or do test prep. I also can work with children!
Please reach us at Jen.Tugnawat@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
You can! However, real practice by speaking sentences quickly is hard to find because many courses tend to focus mostly on silent activities like grammar and vocabulary lists. You may have noticed when you learn from other sources you sit very silently and passively. My lessons specifically foster SPEAKING and speaking quickly without over explaining the grammar and only doing a handful of words at a time. It's always best to have several types of learning going on at the same time but my lessons will CHALLENGE YOU to access the language on demand!
You can buy the lessons through UDEMY or on TeachersPayTeachers.com. (follow the links at the top) They are very low cost even though they include hours of audio with native Mexican speakers. Take advantage! Definitely more affordable than private tutoring by miles! And they are designed like a tutoring session!
Each video will vary slightly but as of now the audios range between 14 to 45 minutes long. There are over 30 separate audio lessons available so far! AN AMAZING DEAL!
It's created for absolute beginners in that they can jump in at lesson #1 and not get lost. However, if you already know some Spanish, this is excellent practice that you probably haven't had up to this point! It's "EASY" except it's never easy if you're not used to talking at all. I've tested the audio out on people that are pretty versed in the language and they all benefited from it. Why? Because you need to be able to access the words quickly to be able to speak! That takes practice, practice, practice. Language requires RAPID recall!
Yes and Yes! It's for anyone thirsty to speak the language. Key word here is SPEAK. I spent the first two years of college spanish learning EVERYTHING I needed to know about Spanish but found myselt simply unable to communicate orally in a quick fashion. I felt like a mute. I wasn't practicing speaking enough. How frustrating! These lessons fill in that gap so you can speak from day 1!!! I am giving you what I needed back then.
Listening and Speaking. This combination is difficult to find which is precisely why I created these Spanish SPEAKING lessons.
Knowing the nuts and bolts of a language is great but don't expect it to lead to a conversation anytime soon.
People seem to like Duolingo. It is nice but it's very much a silent activity. SPEAKING any language is a SKILL THAT MUST BE PRACTICED OUTLOUD!
Check out the two video examples above and see how you do. if you can not answer quickly, these lessons will benefit you. Also, in UDEMY, the first lesson is available for free so you can get an idea of what it's like!
It's geared for a mature learner. It's for any learner capable of focusing and giving listening and speaking feedback. I suggest age 13 and up.
Before I answer that, I use NATIVE speakers from Mexico in my audios.
My name is Jennifer and I learned Spanish in college and subsequently became a Spanish teacher at the High School level. I'm very familiar with the common pitfalls because I went through them personally.
When I started tutoring Spanish to a 13 year old, I noticed that he was learning piano at the same time. Even though he just started, he was practicing playing anyways. I realized that's how my lessons needed to be. I knew that if I only focused on vocabulary and grammar like traditional lessons, he would leave the lessons without the ability to speak or truly understand. That's how these audio lessons were originally born. And now at this point of my life, if I were to study a language, this is the type of method I would prefer.
